Outdoor Water Features in the Desert

Outdoor Water Features in the Desert

Outdoor water features are the hallmark of the desert cities of Tucson, Phoenix, and Las Vegas, and while it is ironic that these water-starved cities should use water as a landscape feature so extensively, the outdoor water features do lend a striking beauty to the landscape, whether commercial or residential. Because it seldom freezes in these climates, the outdoor water features are enjoyed year-round without fear of an ice buildup and pumps burning out.

Outdoor water features in these climates bring a relaxing ambience to the setting, with their splashing sounds and sparkling water. These outdoor water features are especially nice in the summer when temperatures are over 100 and the sound of running water soothes the wilted spirit. Kids especially enjoy the outdoor water features that they can play in, whether it's a pool of water or a feature that lets them stand under water jets that spray upwards. Staying comfortable in the desert during the summer is a challenge, and the outdoor water features go a long way to creating an atmosphere of that is relaxing and cooling.

Two years ago I was travelling through Nevada and I was so inspired by the landscape that I recreated some outdoor water features throughout my garden and my husband has come round to them and really enjoys them too!
